(VOVworld) – The Cambodian People’s Party will hold a ceremony to mark the 35^th anniversary of the victory over the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime on January 7^th, 2014.

Cheam Yeap, the Head of the National Assembly’s finance committee, said that the ceremony’s scale will match the 30^th anniversary of the victory in 2009. This year Cambodia will hold the event on Koh Pich, a diamond island instead of at party’s headquarters as in previous years.
Cheam Yeap said the new venue will allowed more people to participate. This is an opportunity for the Cambodian government and people to express their gratitude to the Vietnamese volunteers who fought against the Pol Pot regime.
