Sovannarith on Sunday said the reports are baseless, destabilize Cambodia, and harm the Cambodia-Vietnam traditional friendship.

Kampong Chhnang provincial authorities recently implemented a plan to relocate residents in the Tonle Sap area, including Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Cham people. Sovannarith said that the relocation aims to improve the environment in the Tonle Sap area and people’s lives. He said the authorities have allocated land for the relocation.

According to Kampong Chhnang provincial authorities, more than 4,000 households live in the Tonle Sap area. Most of them are Cambodians and Cham people. They said the relocation has been planned for a long time, including discussions with Vietnam.
