Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Parliamentary Summit opens in Vientiane

(VOVWORLD) - The first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam parliamentary summit opened in Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday, drawing more than 350 delegates representing the National Assemblies, ministries and localities of the three countries. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue led the Vietnamese delegation attending the summit.

In his opening remarks, General Secretary and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith praised the initiative to hold the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Parliamentary Summit in which the three legislatures will discuss ways to boost comprehensive cooperation, especially in investment projects of the three governments as well as international aid projects in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area.

He said the Summit reflects the three countries’ determination to boost parliamentary cooperation and bilateral ties among the three countries.

Vietnamese NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said the legislatures of the three countries, more than ever need to work closely to consolidate political trust, traditional friendship and special solidarity.
"We need to bring into play our wisdom, strengthen of sharing information and consultation between specialized agencies in fine tuning mechanisms and adopting policies to help governments promote socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security. The three legislatures need to work closely and support one another at regional and global forums," he said. 

The three parliaments agreed to seek breakthroughs in economic cooperation and increase links between the three economies.
