Canada considers Vietnam one of key partners in Southeast Asia

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam expects to coordinate closely with Canada to promote good, substantive and effective development of the ASEAN-Canada relations, said Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son during a reception in Hanoi on Friday to Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Perry Steil.

Son said he hopes during his working term the Ambassador will continue to contribute to the development of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, especially when the two countries will celebrate their 5 years of the Comprehensive Partnership this year and 50 years of their diplomacy next year.

He asked the Ambassador to coordinate in promoting visits by senior leaders of the two countries and the exchange of delegations at all levels.

Vietnam wishes to increase cooperation with Canada in post-pandemic priority areas such as economic recovery, high-quality infrastructure construction, green and sustainable development as well as human resource training.

Ambassador Shawn Perry Steil vowed to work closely with ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to beef up cooperation bilaterally, regionally and internationally.
