(VOVworld) – Many Americans believe that re-elected president Barrack Obama will face numerous challenges on both domestic and foreign affairs, despite recent reconciliatory comments from the White House and both parties.

There remains a profound disagreement on the tax law as the White House and the Democrats advocate a higher tax for the rich which will increase budget revenues and help to resolve government debt. Meanwhile the Republicans say that higher taxes will lower the investment, as the better off motivate the economy. The law on cutting income tax by 2% will expire on December 31. Almost 1.2 trillion USD of the federal budget, half being for national defense, will be cut back over the next 10 years. Additional, Obama is tasked with convincing Congress to lift the national debts ceiling to 16,400 billion USD.

In foreign affairs, Obama has not yet fulfilled his commitment to broker a long-term peace deal between Israel and Palestine. Preventing Iran’s nuclear program without triggering a new war in the Middle East is pressuring Obama, especially with Israel constantly threatening to unilaterally bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities.
