Chemical weapons completely removed from Syria
(VOVworld) - The removal and disposal of Syrian chemical weapons has been completed as the last ship carrying the loads arrived at Gioi Tauro port in southern Italy. In a statement Wednesday, Pentagon press secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said hundreds of tons of mustard gas and ingredients to make Sarin nerve gas had been taken to the port by the Danish vessel Ark Futura. These weapons will then be transferred to US Motor vessel Cape Ray in the southern Italian port for destruction at sea. The destruction process will last for 60 days.

Earlier, Ahmet Uzumcu, director general of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical weapons (OPCW) said it would take around 4months to destroy most of the chemical stockpile, rated as the third largest in the world. The whole destruction process will be carried out in the US, the UK, and Finland.
