China: Chaos in Xinjiang stirred up

(VOVworld)- Chinese police on Thursday shot dead one assailant and arrested another who attacked police in China's northwestern autonomous region of Xinjiang. The attacks in Aksu city occured as police were checking a "suspicious car". The suspect attacked them with knives and hurled burning devices at police patrol cars.

The incident followed a knife attack that injured 6 people two days ago in Guangzhou city, in southern China and a bomb attack a week ago at a train station in Urumqi, the regional capital of Xinjiang, that killed one bystander and wounded 79.
