China’s major groups, banks eye investment in Vietnam

Prime Minister Phuc told Yi Huiman, President of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), that Vietnam welcomes prestigious banks with high liquidity handling in Vietnam, including ICBC. He asked ICBC to work with the State Bank of Vietnam to seek effective means of cooperation. Yi said ICBC wants to contribute more to Vietnam’s industrialization, modernization, and infrastructure development.

At his meeting with Zhou Mubing, President of the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), Prime Miniter Phuc suggested the bank open a branch in Vietnam. Zhou said he hopes the Vietnamese government will facilitate ABC’s credit activities in Vietnam as a way to bolster bilateral economic ties.

Also on Tuesday, Phuc met with Asia Director of Zhongxing Corporation Fan Hu and Vice President of Huawei Corporation Wanghui, where the companies were asked to enhance their partnership with Vietnamese businesses.
