During a meeting on Monday with a delegation of US senators visiting Beijing, Xi said that the common interests between China and the US far outweigh any disagreements they may have, stressing that the success of each country presents an opportunity rather than a challenge for the other. Xi acknowledged the deep integration of the two economies and their potential for mutual development, noting that it is important that they coordinate in addressing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and multiple regional and global problems.

He said it is essential for both countries to demonstrate the broad vision, thinking, and responsibility that come with being a major world power and effectively manage their bilateral relations.

Chuck Schumer, Head of the US Senate delegation, said the US is ready to strengthen dialogue and communication with China, responsibly manage and control bilateral relations, and promote stable development between the two countries.

Schumer is leading the delegation on an Asia tour, including stops in China, South Korea, and Japan, aimed at promoting US economic and national security interests in the region. His visit marks the latest effort by the US to ease tensions and improve relations with China.
