Chinese top legislator concludes Vietnam visit

(VOVworld) - Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, left Da Nang city on Friday, concluding his 4-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

During his stay in Vietnam, Zhang had talks with Chairwoman Ngan and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

He attended, as an observer, a plenary meeting of the 14th National Assembly’s second session and took part in a people-to-people friendship meeting.
At the talks and meetings, the two sides affirmed that they attach importance to promoting the Vietnam-China friendship, neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

They agreed to exert every effort to realise the common perceptions shared by the two countries’ leaders, maintain regular meetings at high level, and promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms. They also discussed measures for reinforcing cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress.
