Coastal central localities brace for storm Vamco
(VOVWORLD) - The Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control has called on coastal central localities from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan to brace for the arrival of Vamco, the 13th storm of the year which is poised to enter the East Sea within the next 24 hours, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Relevant localities have been ordered to remain updated on the movement of the storm through various media outlets, whilst offering timely instructions to vessels in the area, and preparing search operations, rescue forces, and equipment if necessary. They must also provide regular reports on the changing situation to the central steering committee, while search and rescue forces must stay ready to respond to any emergency, and give top priority to ensuring the safety of local residents’ life and property.
Forecasters stated that on Friday, the storm will be located about 460km from East and Southeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel)archipelago, with the strongest winds close to its centre reaching between 115 km and 135 km per hour.

On Wednesday and Thursday, central coastal provinces were hit by torrential rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Meanwhile, southcentral provinces are facing the danger of landslides triggered by heavy rain for many days.
