Colombian government, FARC sign new peace deal

(VOVworld) - The Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) group on Saturday announced their a new peace deal to end the 52-year war in Colombia.

In a joint statement issued by the two sides, the government and the FARC said they have reached a new peace agreement, with changes, corrections and modifications provided by the different sectors of the Colombian society. They also called on Colombian people and  the world community to support the peace deal so that it can be implemented as soon as possible. The first peace agreement was signed September 26 after four years of negotiations in Havana, Cuba, but it was rejected by a slight margin in an Oct. 2 referendum in Colombia.
