Colorful activities to mark Vietnam-Laos friendship

(VOVworld) - Activities are underway in Vietnam and Laos to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties and 35 years since the signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. Hanoi today hosted a ceremony attended by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An and a high-ranking delegation of the Laotian Party and State led by Vice President Buonnhang Vorachith.

At the ceremony, Party leader Trong highlighted the importance of the solidarity and support of the Laotian Party, State, and people to Vietnam’ victory in its liberation war and its achievements in the national renewal, construction, and defense.Trong said: "It is high time for us to consolidate and strengthen the Vietnam-Laos special friendship and comprehensive cooperation, considering it of great importance  despite any difficulties. We vow to protect the consistent relationship as we do our eyes’ pupils. Together with the Laotian Party, State and people, we are determined to deepen and further the two countries’ relationship as an invaluable asset for future generations."

Vice President Vorachith expressed his confidence that under the Party’s talented leadership, the Vietnamese people will soon attain their goals of becoming a rich people, a strong country, and a democratic, just , and civilized society. 

In related news, Vietnam Cultural Days in Laos, and Laos Cultural Days in Vietnam are concurrently taking place until Saturday. The Hanoi Opera House hosted an art performance yesterday to open Laos Cultural Days in Vietnam, featuring songs and dances to honor Laos and the two countries’ solidarity. Meanwhile, Vietnam Cultural Days in Laos is presenting a film, art, and photo exhibition to introduce Laos’ land and people and celebrate Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation. In addition, the third Vietnam-Laos People’s Friendship Festival will be held in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Tuyen Quang province throughout the week.
