Ten days before Egypt’s new constitution faces a referendum on December 15, protests are mounting. Thousands of people demonstrated in Tahrir Square and more than a thousand people marched on the Presidential Palace, incited by the National Salvation Front. Protesters broke through a barbed wire fence and used fireworks against riot police. Police had to use tear gas to disperse the crowd and occupied the Presidential Palace to ensure security for the building. Ten people were injured in the protests.
