Cuba, Vietnam to boost cooperation in advantageous areas

(VOVworld) – Positive results reached at the 32nd meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Committee are expected to open new cooperation opportunities for Cuba and Vietnam. Lazara Mercedes Lopez, Secretary of Havana’s Party Committee, told Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung at a Tuesday meeting in Havana as the latter was leading a delegation to attend the 32nd meeting of the Cuba-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation that took place in Havana on Monday. Minister Dung said Vietnam will conduct further study on the special development zone, Mariel, to seek cooperation and investment opportunities.

The Vietnamese delegation also had a working session with Cuban Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero to boost bilateral cooperation in advantageous areas. Minister Marrero introduced his guests to Cuba’s tourism potentials, adding that this is a spearhead sector that has made important contributions to Cuba’s economy. The same day, Hanoi authorities held a ceremony to confer the title “honorary citizen of Hanoi” on former Cuban Ambassador to Hanoi Fredesman Turri Gonzalez for his significant contributions to boost both countries’ friendship and solidarity. Ambassador Gonzalez pledged to do his utmost to further boost the two countries’ ties.
