(VOVworld) - Cuba has welcomed 1 million foreign tourists to date in 2016, a 14.6% increase over the same period last year. Cubavision TV reported that foreign tourists mainly came from Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Argentina, and notably the US which is still imposing travel restrictions to Cuba.

The Ministry of Tourism attributed this impressive figure to tourism companies which have raised the quality of services and increased hotel capacity to better accommodate international visitors.

Cuba has recently recorded a double-digit growth in its tourism industry. International arrivals to Cuba surpassed 3 million/year for the first time in 2015 and surged to 3.5 million in 2015.
