(VOVworld) – Cyber-security can help Australia take its existing engagement with Vietnam to the next level, says Jessica Woodall, an analyst with the International Cyber Policy Centre of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. Last Sunday, The Australian magazine the Diplomat published Woodall’s article about several countries including the US, Japan, Russia and India seeking a stronger relationship with Vietnam - a partner in a geographically important location - and a warmer friendship with ASEAN. In this context, Australia should also seek to expand its engagement with Vietnam. According to Woodall, Vietnam is strategically important in the region and non-traditional security issues such as cyber-security provide Australia an opportunity for a closer cooperation with Vietnam that primarily revolves around transnational crime.
