Czech Republic backs EU’s early signing of FTA with Vietnam

(VOVworld) - Vice President ​Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and leaders of the Czech Republic agreed to bolster ties in their meetings on June 15. During her visit to the Czech Republic, Vice President Thinh met with Czech President Milos Zeman, Senate President Milan Stech, Vice Speaker of the Parliament Vojtech Filip, and representatives of parties in the parliament.

She said Vietnam values its traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with the Czech Republic and pursues a foreign policy of openness, multilateralisation, and diversification of international relations.  Vietnam welcomes and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors like those from the Czech Republic.

Thinh thanked the Czech authorities for adding representatives of Czechs of Vietnamese origin to the Government Council of Ethnic Minority in July 2013 and for favourable conditions for the local Vietnamese community which serves as a bridge linking the two countries.

She briefed her hosts on the complicated developments in the East Sea, and all agreed that disputes should be addressed through peaceful means respecting international law. President Zeman and Czech parliamentary leaders pledged to back stronger Vietnam-EU ties, the early signing of an EU-Vietnam free trade agreement, and EU recognition of Vietnam’s market economy.
