(VOVworld)- More than 800 youths, students and workers in Da Nang on Sunday donated 600 units of blood in response to the Blood Donation Day. Da Nang has the highest rate of blood donors in the country. Last year, the city organized 30 rounds of blood donation and received more than 22,000 units of bloods. Pham Vu Thao Ly, who has donated blood for 20 times, says: “Donating blood is a meaningful work because by so doing, I can save many people’s lives. I hope that other young people will donate blood as I do to help more people”.

On the occasion, Da Nang’s Steering Committee for Blood Donation honored 20 collectives and 65 individuals for their contributions to communication and participation in blood donation. Tran Vu Duy Man, Vice Secretary of Da Nang Municipal Youth Union, says: “In Da Nang, the blood donation accounts for 90% of blood supply in hospitals. We have set up a stand-by blood donation team who are voluntary to donate blood 24 hours a day”.

The same day, a blood donation campaign was launched in the northern province of Tuyen Quang. Nearly 1,000 youths attended the campaign.
