Belgium extended its temporary border control with France by 10 days to avoid an influx of migrants amid the ongoing dismantling of a refugee camp in the French port city of Calais.

Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu (R) and EC President Donald Tusk

European Council President Donald Tusk arrived in Ankara Wednesday and met with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who pledged to abide by the plan jointly signed with the EU last year to prevent migrants illegally crossing from Turkey to Greece. Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Davutoglu said Turkey has complied with the joint plan of action on migrants. Tusk praised Turkey for its growing cooperation, including more coastguard patrols and a tightening of its visa program. But, he said, the number of refugees remains “far too high” and further action is needed.
