Danish Parliament Speaker visits Vietnam

(VOVworld) - President of the Danish Parliament Morgens Lykketoft and his entourage arrived in Vietnam on Monday to begin their official visit made at the invitation of Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. Addressing the welcoming ceremony, Chairman Hung expressed his confidence that the visit will contribute a great deal to further deepening Vietnam-Denmark relations and benefit both peoples.

During talks following the reception, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed his wish that Denmark continues to support EU’s move to recognize Vietnam’s full market economy status and negotiate a Free Trade Agreement with Vietnam. Both lawmakers spoke highly of the two countries’ establishment of the strategic partnership in coping with climate change, environment, energy and green growth, saying this enables Vietnam to benefit from Denmark’s experiences in these fields. The two agreed to continue exchanging senior visits to learn more experiences in legislative and supervisory activities. They were determined that the two legislative bodies will continue sharing experiences and increasing mutual understanding. In addition, they will also work harder to accelerate the reached agreements and better facilitate businesses. During the talks, Chairman Hung clarified the guests’ queries about the amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution. On Monday evening, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung hosted a banquet in honor of the Danish Parliamentary speaker and his entourage.

Earlier in the afternoon, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held talks with the visiting President of the Danish Parliament. Dung expressed his delight for multifaceted development of Vietnam-Denmark relations, particularly in economics. The Prime Minister praised the establishment of a strategic partnership in coping with climate change and environment. He said he hoped that the Danish Parliament will continue supporting Vietnam through ODA programs and legislative activities. The Prime Minister asked Denmark to create the best possible policies to support the Vietnamese living and working in the country. Danish parliament speaker said that the Danish Parliament always supports cooperation between the two governments, saying the two sides should work more closely and share more experiences in judicial reforms.
