Deputy Prime Minister pays official visit to Republic of Korea

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh is on a working visit to the Republic of Korea from Tuesday to Thursday.

During a reception in Seoul on Wednesday for President of the Republic of Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association Choi Young-joo, Minh suggested the association facilitate visits to Vietnam to boost trade, promote cultural exchange and tourism, strengthen friendship between the two countries’ people, and particularly ensure interests of Vietnamese brides in the Republic of Korea. 

Meeting two Vietnamese Honorary Consuls General to Busan-Kyeongnam and Gwangju-Cheonam, Minh expressed his wish that they would continue working closely with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea to launch practical activities in consular work and citizen protection as well as extend economic collaboration between the two countries’ localities.

In a meeting with former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the Vietnamese official hailed Ban’s contributions in his capacity as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea and UN chief. Minh said these contributions help develop bilateral ties with Vietnam and deal with global challenges regarding the environment, climate change, and poverty reduction.

The same day, the Vietnamese guest presented a certificate of merit to Kim Beok-dong, Chairman of the People’s Council of Seoul’s Jongno district, in honour of his active and effective contributions to strengthening ties between the two countries. 

On Wednesday, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met representatives of Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea. He said he expects them to be successful in their work and study, while complying with local regulations to promote the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
