(VOVworld) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the US. By 15.26 hours on November 9, he won 276 electoral votes, ahead of his Democrat rival Hillary Clinton, who won 215 electoral votes.

The Republican Party now controls 51 out of the 100 Senate seats and will continue to control that legislative body. The victory enables the Republicans to maintain their control of both houses of Congress.
