Dozens 19 killed in South Sudan plane crash

(VOVWORLD) - At least 19 people died on Sunday when a small plane crashed into a lake in the centre of South Sudan.

Four people survived, a regional official said. The plane, carrying 23 people, crashed in the town of Yirol in the weather condition of fog as it came in to land. Two children were among the survivors, as was an Italian citizen.

In 2017, four passengers were injured when a plane crashed into a truck while trying to land in the city of Wau in war-torn South Sudan in bad weather. In 2015, 36 people were killed when a Russian-built cargo plane crashed shortly after taking off from Juba.
