Egypt deploys 160,000 army personnel for parliament elections

(VOVworld) - A total of 160,000 army personnel will be deployed to protect polling stations in the second phase of Egypt's parliamentary elections, which will take place Sunday and Monday.

The army will aid the police in securing the polls in the 13 governorates casting their ballots on both election days. The first phase of the elections took place in October in 14 governorates. Some 185,000 army personnel were deployed to secure the first phase of the elections along with 120,000 policemen and central security forces. In the second phase, majority of 5,000 candidates showed their support for President Al-Sisi and those force are likely to win majority in the parliament seats. The results of the elections will be announced on 24 November.
