Egypt Senate ruled invalid

The Shura Council (Senate) and a panel that drafted constitution was ruled invalid by Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC). However, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi said that the Shura Council would not be dissolved until a new parliament is in place. Both the Upper and Lower houses were elected under the same electoral law, which the SCC last year deemed invalid. SCC also disabled the Emergency Law since this law grants the president more exceptional powers when necessary in emergency situations.
