(VOVworld)- Cairo Criminal Court stepped down Wednesday from the proceedings of the Muslim Brotherhood trial. Top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood are accused of killing 9 protestors on June 30.
The 19 defendants include Islamic leader Mohamed Badie, his two deputies Khairat al-Shater and Rashad Bayoumi, and several other former officials of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The reason for the trial’s adjournment was the defendants chanting slogans against the military and calling for “ousting the government”. Chaos and disorder has prompted three members of the jury to withdraw from the trial, which will be transferred to the Appeal Court of Cairo for another attempt. On October 29, the first trial court also withdrew for the same reason.
