Egyptian Defense Minister to run for presidential election
(VOVworld) - Egypt's army chief Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has indicated that he may run for president in elections slated for later this year if the Egyptian people want him to. In a national televised speech on Saturday, El-Sisi called on Egyptians to carry out their national duties by participating in the Referendum on a new Egyptian constitution scheduled for early next week.

The new Constitution is to replace the one drafted by an Islamist-led assembly in 2012 which was suspended in the July 3rd coup. General El-Sisi also said that Egypt is facing a historical turn and taking first steps in its roadmap of political transition after two “revolutions”.
