According to a state television statement on Monday, the military reiterated the demand adding that the deadline was a “last chance” for all parties involved. The statement reaffirmed that the armed forces will introduce measures to supervise the roadmap in case the above mentioned requirements are not satisfied.

A spokesperson for the military, Ahmed Ali said this was not a real military coup but the move reflects the mutual trust between the military and the people.

Following the army’s announcement, President Mohamed Morsi met with Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and Defense Minister Abdelfattah Al-Seesi but the meeting’s details haven’t been revealed.

In a TV statement, the Muslim Brotherhood rejected Egyptian troops’ decision saying that the move violated the country’s constitution, paving the way for a coup d’etat. The Muslim Brotherhood underlined that it will support all political solutions in pursuance to the constitution.
