Yasser Ali, a presidential spokesperson, said Morsi has signed the decree and it will be published in official newspapers. The Egyptian Supreme Elections Commission announced Tuesday that the new constitution was approved by 63.8 percent of voters in the referendum. The same day, Egypt's upper house of parliament convened for its first session since President Mohamed Morsi signed the decree. The Shura Council met on Wednesday to swear in 90 new members appointed by Mr. Morsi. The council is expected to begin setting the framework for elections in the lower of house of parliament within the next two months.
