Enhancing activities in searching for CASA212 aircraft and pilot Tran Quang Khai

(VOVworld) – Army and non-army forces have increased activities to search for Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Khai, the remaining missing pilot on the SU30 MK2 plane which went down on June 14 during a training session off the coast of Nghe An province. A CASA212 aircraft with 9 crewmembers aboard lost communication at 12:30 pm on June 16 while on a mission of searching for Khai in the Bach Long Vi waters.

Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Commission, Defense Minister, Senior-Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich chaired a meeting on Thursday on search and rescue measures and mobilized all military and non-military forces to get involved in the search around the clock.

Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh met Chinese Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong on Thursday to ask China to collaborate with Vietnamese rescue forces to conduct the search east of the delimitation line in the Gulf of Tonkin and provide any latest information or finding of objects suspected to be from the missing plane on the eastern side of the delimitation line.
