EU, Russia, and Ukraine disagree over gas prices

(VOVworld) – The fifth round of tri-lateral talks between the EU, Russia, and Ukraine concluded on Monday in Brussels with no agreement on gas.

EC Commissioner for Energy Guenther Oettinger said the next round of talks is scheduled for Tuesday. Oettinger said the parties discussed gas’s prices, signed contracts, markets, neighbouring countries, and the current situation. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said gas’s prices in the next three months, gas transportation to Europe, and gas pumped from underground tanks was also discussed. Novak reiterated Moscow’s stance that before Tuesday, Ukraine needs to repay 1.5 billion USD to Russia for last November and December and 500 million USD for April and May.
