A blast seen and heard in a chemical industry zone in Lijin, Dongying City of Shandong on Aug. 31st, 2015.

The factory in Lijin county exploded at 11.22pm Monday and the fire was brought under control about five hours later. The area is 300 kilometers from Tianjin, where blasts on Aug. 12 at warehouses storing hazardous chemicals killed at least 150 people.

Also on Tuesday, explosions and fire hit an aluminium plating factory in southern Japan. Multiple explosions were heard at the plant in Kitakyushu operated by Shinkou Alumer Inc. A local fire spokesman said that initial investigation indicates the possibility that water somehow got into a furnace in the process of melting aluminium and caused vapour explosions.
