According to spokesperson of the Cambodian Government and Secretary of State Phay Siphan, the Prime Minister’s decision, made during a ministerial meeting, is intended to protect the law and public security in line with the national constitution. Any actions that distort border issues are considered going against the law in order to deliberately provoke social unrest and create public misunderstanding about border issues. The requirement came a day after Cambodia’s Coordinating Committee on Receiving and Checking Maps revealed the map used in determining the border with Vietnam is the same as the one recognized by the United Nations (UN) since 1964.
