First archeology community museum in Vietnam honored
(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s first archeology community museum on Thursday won the Job Award of the 2013 Bui Xuan Phai– Love for Ha Noi Awards. The museum was built in Kim Lan village, Gia Lam district, Hanoi, by local artisans and Japanese archeologist Nishimura Masanari. It houses a collection of ancient pottery artifacts dating back to the 11th century. It’s rare to see a village establish its own museum to honor and promote the values of its craft.

Artisan Nguyen Van Nhung of Kim Lan ceramic village spoke at the award ceremony: "I’m happy and proud of what we have done. The award represents the recognition of the society and the government of our efforts, especially of Professor Nushimura’s. He was the decisive factor in the museum’s establishment, who called for funding and was in charge of both expertise and design".
