(VOVworld) - South Korea's Constitutional Court on Tuesday held its first full hearing on the impeachment of President Park Geun-Hye over a scandal related to her confidant Choi Soon-Sil. The session was closed after nine minutes and postponed to Thursday due to Mrs. Park's absence.

If she fails to appear for a second time on Thursday, the hearing will proceed without her. Mrs. Park's lawyer said she will not attend "unless there are special circumstances".

The South Korean parliament voted to impeach Mrs. Park in early December over accusations that Mrs. Choi used her relationship with Park to accumulate millions of dollars in donations for her foundations.
