Themed "The colors of cultures - convergence and spread", the event offers an opportunity for very few ethnic minority groups to meet and exchange experiences in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

In her address, Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the traditional culture of very few ethnic minorities is a precious cultural heritage. It is the property of not only a particular land, people or locality, but also an invaluable asset of the nation, contributing to the richness, diversity and unity of the Vietnamese culture.

“The Party, State, the whole political system, and the ethnic minority groups are joining efforts to promote traditional cultural values. The preservation is a political, economic and social task of particular importance in the national development,” said Thuy.

The festival also helps Lai Chau - home to six of 10 Vietnam’s most grandiose mountains and 32 historical and cultural relics and landscapes and relics - introduce  its tourist attractions and unique cultural features.
