(VOVWORLD) - 50 foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on Monday received the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)'s certificate of merit for their contributions in 2020.

Foreign NGOs’ aid to Vietnam this year were focused on health, education, agriculture, rural development, and protection of natural resources and the environment, with a total value estimated at 250 million USD.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Chairwoman of the VUFO, praised the support and cooperation of the more than 500 foreign NGOs in Vietnam, saying they have made important contributions to Vietnam’s achievements in a year full of challenges because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She noted that the NGOs receiving the certificate of merit promptly responded to the call of the VUFO to join hands with the Vietnamese people in fighting the pandemic, coping with drought and saline intrusion in the Mekong Delta, and recovering from floods in the central provinces.
