Governor Ducey will appoint Mr. Kyl, who served three terms alongside McCain in the Senate and was the minority leader in the Senate before he retired in 2012, to fill the seat left open by McCain until a special election is held in 2020.

Senator John McCain, who died last month due to complications from brain cancer, won a 6-year term in 2016.
