German Chancellor visits China

(VOVworld) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel has begun a three-day visit to China at the invitation of Premier Li Keqiang. The visit is Mrs Merkel's seventh to China since taking office in 2005. Her first stop is Chengdu, capital of south-western Sichuan province where Ms. Merkel will visit joint factories between two countries and attend China-Germany Dialogue Forum 2014. Chancellor Merkel will also hold talks with Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping and deliver a speech at Qing Hua university. According to Chinese resources, trade issues will be high on the agenda. During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign 10 cooperative agreements in economics, clean energy and environmental protection. They will also discuss Ukraine’s situation, China-Japan relations and other pressing issues in the region and the world.
