(VOVworld)- Germany and South Korea have jointly called on Pyongyang to give up its nuclear ambitions.
Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and South Korean President Park Geun Hye made the appeal Wednesday after Pyongyang launched 2 more medium-range missiles.
In an address following the meeting with Park Geun Hye in Berlin, Merkel expressed her support for resolving the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula through 6-party talks.
She said that Pyongyang needs to halt its controversial nuclear activities and contribute to the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s office issued a statement saying that Pyongyang’s actions have undercut regional trust building. The UN Security Council plans to convene a closed-door meeting on Thursday to discuss North Korea’s recent missile launches.
