Chairing a regular government meeting on Friday to assess recent socio-economic situation and map out orientation in the remainder of the year, the Prime Minister said that in August, the COVID-19 epidemic resurfaced in 15 localities across the country, but the government has taken timely and drastic measure to contain the disease and boost economic growth.

He said, “At this session I am very happy to say that the socio-economic situation in August turned positive. In such a difficult context, Vietnam was ranked the 5th or 6th healthy  economy among emerging economies. According to the international financial institutions, Vietnam economy may grow 2-3%, but there will be many tasks to be undertaken.”

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung reported that last month, Vietnam's economy continued to maintain a stable macroeconomic foundation; inflation is under control. CPI in August increased by 0.07% over the previous month, the lowest level in the past 5 years. Solutions were adopted to remove obstacles, while public investment projects were accelerated.
