Hai Phong urged to focus on developing three economic pillars

(VOVWORLD) - A Government delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, held a working session with the Party Committee of the northern port city of Hai Phong on October 23.

The delegation was to discuss the city’s socio-economic development since the beginning of 2021, as well as planning the development orientation for the city for the coming years.

Mr.Thanh lauded Hai Phong’s continuous growth momentum for the past 5 years. Notably, the city achieved a GRDP growth of 12.28% in the first 9 months of 2021.

He said Hai Phong needs to develop with more fervor, especially focusing on improving the business investment environment for attracting investment resources. The city needs to focus on three economic development pillars including industry, seaports, and tourism, he added.

The Deputy PM agreed with the proposals made by ministries, branches, and Hai Phong City on the development of the South Do Son Seaport; upgrading and expanding Cat Bi International Airport, and soon implementing the planning on the development of Tien Lang Airport; relocating Hoang Dieu Port; upgrading the Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line; among others.
