President Đặng Ngọc Tùng of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour told reporters:Vietnamese fishermen recently lost fishing equipment and other property to natural disasters and pirates. Our 7 million union members and all Vietnamese citizens should help fishermen who fish in the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa area, helping to defend Vietnam’s territorial waters.

At the launch ceremony, the organizing board received over 22 billion VND (about 1 million USD) and a ton of nets donated by individuals and organizations.
