Ho Chi Minh city sees economic recovery in the first half of the year

(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh city has seen economic recovery and growth, making considerable contributions to its GDP growth, the municipal People’s Committee reported at a review conference on the city’s socio-economic, cultural and national defence activity in the first half of the year.

In the first 6 months of 2015, Ho Chi Minh city’s GDP was estimated to have reached nearly 19 billion USD, up 8.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The turnover earned from exports, retail sales and services increased year on year. Local business and the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment have made great progress. Through the rest of the year, the city aims to improve the investment environment, promote production, and environmental management in response to climate change, and effectively implement policies to assure social security and improve people’s living standards.
