Both armies announced on Tuesday that they were disengaging from Patrol Point 15, in a significant step forward from the stalled process of troop withdrawal.

The two troops are expected to move from their current positions back to their sides of the Line of Actual Control (LAC), then conduct verification of each other's positions. The withdrawal process includes the dismantling of infrastructure built by both sides at the site where they have deployed troops and other assets.

Earlier, India and China withdrew from the Galwal area and the two banks of the Pangong River in East Ladakh. The two sides have resolved all points of dispute arising since May 2020.
