Tyas Budiman, Director of the Directorate General of Maritime and Fisheries Resource Supervision, made the announcement on Monday, noting that this is the first sinking this year.

Boats from Vietnam, Malaysia, and Myanmar and four Indonesian boats have been sunk for fishing without proper permission. Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti said the government is taking stronger and firmer action to enforce regulations to keep Indonesian water safe.

Since October 2014, Indonesia has sunk about 150 foreign fishing boats for illegal operations, including boats from Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and China.
