(VOVworld) – The Ha Long Bay Alliance Initiative was launched on Tuesday by Quang Ninh province and the US Embassy in Vietnam to mobilize greater resources for the preservation of Ha Long Bay. Nguyen The Dong, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Environment Administration, said at the launch ceremony that Vietnam has recently experienced rapid economic growth which is damaging the environment, especially in economic hubs like Ha Long Bay.

According to Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, local authorities want to preserve Ha Long Bay and exploit its advantages as a world heritage site and international tourist attraction.
The initiative will strengthen cooperation to improve the awareness and capability of state agencies and organizations to effectively manage the area’s natural resources.
