Integrated planning needed for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta

(VOVWORLD) - Scientists and experts have stressed the need to have an integrated plan to ensure sustainable development in the Mekong Delta.

At a workshop in Can Tho city on master planning and developing facilities in the Mekong Delta region, participants discussed transforming the socio-economic development model of the Mekong Delta, irrigation, water resource management, and sustainable agricultural development. They said it is essential to work out an integrated plan that considers the development of the whole region. Nguyen Chi Dung, the Minister of Planning and Investment, said: “We need comprehensive research and measures for adapting to climate change. We need to take into consideration factors such as agricultural production, land, and transportation”.
