(VOVworld) - Iran has defined a 40-km red zone inside the Iraqi border to prevent any infiltration attempt into its territory by the Islamic State (IS), an Iranian army commander said Tuesday.

Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan, commander of the Iranian army's ground forces, said there is a vital red line 40 km into Iraq soil and warned that IS will face Iran's harsh response if they cross the line. Pourdastan added that the Iranian army is familiar with the tactics used by the terrorists and closely monitoring their movement inside Iraq.
